Once a year, on the special night of the mooncake festival, adults of various ages magically transform into kids, going around carrying lantern adding to the cheers of other children and their families who are celebrating the magical night.
The difference is this group of people goes around on bicycle.
Last Tuesday on 25th Sept, 11 knight riders rode around town towards Klebang beach to celebrate mooncake festival. The ride started off well from Ah Keong’s place through Kampong Chetti, Kampong Lapan, out to Jalan Pandan to a kampong road to Pokok Mangga. We then rode to Taman Asean to take the off road cycling by the river towards Pulau Gadong and halfway there was when the storm hit us. The strong wind blew against us that we were almost cycling on the same spot. It then started to rain cats and dogs and Ah Keong, Ma, Ah Whye and myself were lucky to find shelter while the rest continued to cycle to the meeting point.
All was not lost as we had plan B hatched up at the shelter. We decided to change the venue to my house and as soon as the rain subsided, off we raced to Pokok Mangga.
With the full belly, we convey our thanks to Ah Keong for the delicious satay, fried rice, noodle and water melon. Not forgetting Ah Whye for the mooncake.
Alls well that ends well.
