I wanted to cry when I saw the weight of my Specialized Rockhopper. 12.77 kg. All these years of lugging 12.77 kg not including the water bottles and saddle bag with spare tire and the tools. What the heck, she's been with me for some 7 years now, faithfully providing the pleasures of numerous uphills and down, surviving falls and has seen action in all 5 years of Penang Kayuh Lasak. As the owner, I promise to maintain her to the best of my (finacial) ability and will proudly hand it down to my son when my new "baby" arrives.
Ma SY with his 10.45 kg Cannondale Taurine. Jealouslah.
Ah Keong's latest frame only for sale. Scott Scale Ltd.
And a name that suits it most, Scale. It blew the scale away with a freaking featherweight of only 1.12 kg. With top range components installed, it will still be under 10kg. :P

Friday Night Ride - 28/9/07
18 KNight Riders took the streets of Malacca before going to Duyong and back with a total distance of 28km. A few new faces was in the group. Welcome!
Ah Fang broke his chain on a slight uphill. Luckily Captain is around to help. Someone commented that he has all the equipment in the saddle bag but never used it. Looks like all of us better learn some basic skills of chain cutting, changing of tubes, etc. During Kayuh Lasak in December, it's self service.
No, we're not on a diet. The food and drinks have not arrived.
After losing 1 kg in riding, it's time to add 3 kg to the stomach. No wonder I don't seem to lose any weight although been cycling for a few years now.

Mooncake Festival Ride
Once a year, on the special night of the mooncake festival, adults of various ages magically transform into kids, going around carrying lantern adding to the cheers of other children and their families who are celebrating the magical night.
The difference is this group of people goes around on bicycle.
Last Tuesday on 25th Sept, 11 knight riders rode around town towards Klebang beach to celebrate mooncake festival. The ride started off well from Ah Keong’s place through Kampong Chetti, Kampong Lapan, out to Jalan Pandan to a kampong road to Pokok Mangga. We then rode to Taman Asean to take the off road cycling by the river towards Pulau Gadong and halfway there was when the storm hit us. The strong wind blew against us that we were almost cycling on the same spot. It then started to rain cats and dogs and Ah Keong, Ma, Ah Whye and myself were lucky to find shelter while the rest continued to cycle to the meeting point.
All was not lost as we had plan B hatched up at the shelter. We decided to change the venue to my house and as soon as the rain subsided, off we raced to Pokok Mangga.
With the full belly, we convey our thanks to Ah Keong for the delicious satay, fried rice, noodle and water melon. Not forgetting Ah Whye for the mooncake.
Alls well that ends well.

The 1st posting
The 1st posting will be a photo of the Sunday ride on 16th Sept in Ayer Keroh. Captain (Ah Chai) from Sin Bee Hin bike shop has been actively recceeing the area and I found it good with up hills and down hills with many beautiful single tracks going through rubber plantation and Tiara golf course. Note of thanks to Pang KN for the photo.
Malacca MTB activities used to be only the usual monthly hash ride. Then a couple of guys, namely Ah Keong, Ah Whye and myself started riding on Friday nights to take advantage of the cool nights and to explore the streets of Malacca. Three became five with the participation of Maj Joshua and Ah Chai. It then slowly grew to 23 and the highest number of Friday night riders was a record of 48! After a few Friday night rides, a number of riders with stronger legs started to complain that the ride was too slow. Thus, the creation of Wednesday night ride for strong riders. Then, these Wednesday riders felt Wednesday was not enough, so Tuesday and sometimes Thursday night ride was form. Now, every Sunday 3pm is off road riding for those who cannot come out of the addiction. As our Captain said, he used to ride once a week, now he rests once a week!

When you've gotta go, you gotta go! Our Captain helping to nourish the grounds.
Easy does it!
